WELCOME

Welcome to the students' section of this site

Prince Henry's is a vibrant and friendly school for all students ranging from Year 7 to Year 13 with plenty of opportunities.

Moving Schools can be a daunting experience for anyone, whether you arrive with friends from your primary schools, on your own or mid-term. However, Prince Henry's aims to make all newcomers feel as welcome as it can and assist you in settling in as quickly and comfortably as possible. Adjusting to the experience of secondary school life may seem like a difficult task but will be made simple by the intervention of friendly staff and students.

At Prince Henry's we believe that children best realise their potential when they feel secure and content. It is important that every child feels cared for and that they know precisely to whom they can turn if they have a problem.

On joining Prince Henry's, children are assigned to a mixed-ability tutor grpup. The form tutor has a special duty of care towards the students in his/her form, and will get to know the group very well, closely monitoring their progress, both academic and personal. As students move through the school they usually remain with the same tutor. This provides a constant source of support for students, and a consistent point of reference for parents/carers.

Each year group is led by a Year Leader. Year Leaders play a very important role in easing the transition between schools and subsequently, by working closely with the teams of Form Tutors, they guarantee a secure path for the student through the school. Each Year Leader is supported by a non teaching Year Manager.

Students at Prince Henry's are privileged with the extra curricular activities available. The focus of studies is not just limited to the classroom: from residential trips, the annual school musical, sports teams, ski trips to France and America, exchanges with one of our sixteen partner schools in more than a dozen different nations, chess club, the debating society and even in a gardening club... your only problem will be deciding which to get yourself involved in!

The Student Council has evolved into an effective panel to voice the opinions of students and help the pupils' views be recognised and heard. Working with the Eco Group we aim to make our school greener and safer for the environment, with recycling and composting being our main goal. With student elected leaders for each year, you are guarenteed to have a respected student to bring your opinions to the Council. Our Head Boy and Head Girl represent the views of all students from any year group; they are usually found in the student-designed Common Room at breaktime and lunchtime, or through your year leader. Your input is appreciated about anything that may be bothering you about people, subject choices or the school in general.

When Prince Henry's was given Rugby Academy status back in 2006, new students from all over the country joined our sixth form and are currently sharing experience as sixth-formers. With more and more people joining the Acadamy each year or simply because of the range of subjects and opportunities made available, the atmosphere is thriving. Many sixth form events are organised to integrate Year 12 and 13. With a smart/casual uniform code to encourage maturity and a higher level of respect from staff, the learning atmospheres in our well-equipped departments are at a high level to ensure the best chance of further education in preperation for whatever lies ahead after sixth form.
