Fairtrade Community
Our student Fairtrade Group took over the Buttercross stall in Otley, to promote Fairtrade products to local people. Prior to the event, the students had a fierce Bake Off competition, which was won by Hattie Michael in Year 10. They cooked cakes, biscuits, buns and more with Fairtrade ingredients.
The delicious bakes were then sold off on market day, alongside tasting opportunities for Fairtrade products, such as bananas. Local people were very appreciative.
“We are very proud of our students for taking part in this initiative. Fairness of all kinds, and Fairtrade in particular, has always been very important to Prince Henry’s. We know our local community embraces this as well, so it was great to be able to share the work which our students have been doing with local people at the local market.” said teacher Lizzie Gordon, who works with the Fairtrade Group at Prince Henry’s.
Prince Henry’s has been a FairTrade FairAchiever school for more than a decade, promoting the initiative to staff and students both in lessons and in Henry’s Diner.
