Headteacher's Welcome
I am delighted to welcome you to Prince Henry’s Grammar School, a thriving and successful secondary school in the heart of Otley, with over 1,600 students. We are a school with high expectations and our standards are just as important as our moral values and inclusive ethos, which permeate the whole school, academically and personally.
Our vision is that “Prince Henry’s will become internationally recognised as an exceptional school with a culture of respect, where we can all flourish and achieve”. Our values are embedded in each of these three areas so that with respect comes a culture of kindness and honesty, we can flourish with confidence and independence and we will achieve through ambition and resilience.
Prince Henry’s has a successful past, dating back to 1607, and present. We are also a forward-looking and dynamic school, committed to seeking a truly exceptional experience for students, staff, parents and our community for the future. As a founding member of the Collaborative Learning Trust, we have a rich variety of expertise, opportunities and facilities available and this extends beyond the Academy Trust to other alliances and networks with whom we can further enrich our offer.
As Headteacher, I am hugely privileged to lead such a successful school, where standards are consistently high and there is a genuine commitment to and huge participation in the many enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities available. This is what I believe makes us truly special. We are fortunate to have been recognised as such through external endorsement from sources such as Ofsted and The Sunday Times, with quotes such as “there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding in a graded inspection”. We are rightly proud of this and truly believe we have an outstanding school community, who benefit from our extremely ambitious curriculum, both in and out of the classroom. Alongside this comes the frequent endorsement that our students are polite, well mannered, give their time to others and take time to support each other. What wonderful accolades!
I hope you enjoy finding this out for yourselves through our website, and that you can experience this personally when visiting the school whenever that may be. I look forward to hearing from, or meeting with, you and also to sharing our further and future success.
