This pathway is designed for academically able and hardworking students looking for careers in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science.

Applicants for these degrees require excellent academic grades and must also demonstrate commitment through work experience and other activities.

The Professional Academic (Medical) Pathway offers opportunities to gain work experience to enhance your prospects. You can also take part in a range of visits and presentations to improve your knowledge in your chosen field. This programme changes each year depending on the needs of the students but may include:

• Organised volunteering and work experience placements

• Pre-Med courses in both the UK and overseas
• Preparation for BMAT and UCAT (the entrance examinations for some medical courses)
• Mock interview day with other Red Kite schools
• Early applicants’ advice evening for students and parents
• Visits to hospitals
• Talks from professionals in the healthcare field
• Individual careers advice interviews
• Talks from former students studying medical courses
• Pathway support network with other students applying for similar courses
• Medical careers mailing list with all available opportunities sent to you directly
• Regular pathways group meetings to develop awareness and skills

You will also be given individual support in preparing your University application to give you the best possible chance of gaining a place on the course of your choice.
