Student Leadership & Student Voice

"The student leadership team is a good opportunity to be involved school life. It is a great honour for me to represent the voice of the students which allows their opinions to be heard. This is extremely important, as it creates a closer community in the school, where all students feel valued." Will Mullens, Head Boy 2016/17

At Prince Henry’s, we pride ourselves on enabling our students to develop their leadership skills, nurture the crucial partnership between staff and students, and, by working together, we strive to foster a shared vision for the whole school community. If you want to put an idea forward, contact your Form Representative, Year Representative or speak to Mrs Robinson-Junni in the Sixth Form Office in the Library.

THE STUDENT COUNCIL

Student leadership cycle takes place every half term. Each form in PHGS holds a discussion on student-led issues and their views are put forward to their respective Year Reps. At the half termly Student Council meeting, Year Reps discuss their year’s suggestions with the Senior Student Leadership Team. Selected feedback from the student body is presented to PHGS’ Senior Leadership Team by the Head Boy and Head Girl. The action points and minutes from this meeting are then fed back to the students through assemblies and form notices.

The Student Council participates in training, supports at key events and contributes to interview panels when appointing new staff. The pupil body select our two chosen charities and lead on a variety of fundraising initiatives.

PREFECTS

The Prefect Team are a crucial aspect of Student Leadership within PHGS. Prefects, from all years within school, complete varied weekly duties and act as ambassadors and guides at school events. They support staff and students around the school site, and have an active role in promoting the care of the school environment.

'Student involvement and participation in the decision-making process within a school is an integral part to running a successful and smooth school community. This is something we value very highly at Prince Henry's and we aim to include as many views as possible when reviewing student-led ideas. It is important that all our students feel welcomed and part of our school community so that they feel able to share their views and build on their confidence for later life experiences.'
