THE RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL AWARD (RRSA) recognises schools which put the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of its planning, policies, practice and ethos.

Prince Henry’s has achieved the Rights Respecting School Award at Level 1. As part of this we have launched our very own "Classroom Charter", based on the articles of the UNCRC. This was developed by our students and is now displayed in every classroom in school and is an intergal part of our student planner.

A rights respecting school not only teaches about child rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and students, between adults, and between students.

THE UNITED NATIONS CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD is an international statement of the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of children. It is made up of 54 “articles” or promises. The UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on 20^th November 1989.

Significant progress has been made in the 20 years since the world made this set of promises to children. But the rights of many millions of children are still being denied. Children still die of easily preventable causes, still lack protection, education, food, shelter and clean water, and still face poverty and discrimination.
