Online Resources

A page of online resources for students working from home and their parents and carers, collated during the COVID pandemic. Before the subject specific section, we have added sites which cover many subjects and also a section on Mental Health, in case you find these resources useful in supporting your child.

Department for Education logo

The Government have brought together an initial list of online educational resources to help children to learn at home. These websites have been identified by some of the country’s leading educational experts and offer a wide range of support and resources for pupils of all ages. The list includes subject-specific resources for English, Maths, Science, PE, Wellbeing and Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

They are currently being offered for free.

Individual resources cannot replace a school’s properly planned curriculum, and the resources in this list are not intended to do so.

Oak National Academy is a new collection of high-quality lessons and online resources. Backed by the Government, it has been created in response to the coronavirus lockdown. The online classroom offers free access to great teachers, delivering video lessons, quizzes and worksheets. Teachers may point students at this site, as part of their online learning.

Oak National Academy was built at speed; at present our resources are for pupils who usually access their schools’ curriculum in mainstream education, from reception through to year 10, without significant support or adaptation. We’re currently working on providing support for teachers working with pupils with additional needs, and teachers based in specialist settings. Next week we hope to launch materials for pupils not able to access all aspects of our current offer.

Sane textcare logo

Sane Textcare is a free service designed to provide emotional support and connection at the times you need it most. We provide bespoke one-way messages directly to your mobile phone.

This is a confidential service for those aged 16 and over, and each message sent will be individually written for you based on the information you give us in the sign up form. For this reason, you need to submit your request a minimum of 72 hours before the time you would like to receive a message, and we can’t send you more than one message in a seven day period.

Textcare is not a crisis service, and we can only respond to requests by the person who wants to receive the texts, not to ones sent on another person’s behalf.

We may on certain occasions call you to clarify what support might be helpful for us to include in our Textcare service to you.

You can choose if you would like one, three or five messages. If you would like to continue the support beyond this time, simply make another request.
