Sixth Form Open Evening - Thursday 7 November, 6.30-8.45pm
Come and find out more about our popular and high-achieving Sixth Form at this year's Open Evening. The event takes place from 6.30pm until 8.45pm on Thursday 7 November 2024.
The evening begins with a talk from Sally Bishop, our Headteacher, followed by a chance to meet our Sixth Form Team, chat to students and subject teachers and get a real feel for life in our friendly Sixth Form. There is no need to book, you can just turn up, and Year 11 students from schools across the area and their parents and carers are warmly invited to attend.
Subject presentations will take place from 7.00-8.00pm. You are also invited to attend one of two short presentations from the Headteacher and Sixth Form team: either before the subject presentations, from 6.30-7.00pm, or after, from 8.00-8.30pm. This means you can choose whether to arrive for a start time of 6.30pm, in time to attend the first talk, or 7.00pm, with a view to attending the second.

The open evening is designed to inform students and parents about the options available in the Sixth Form at Prince Henry’s and supports the important process students must go through when making decisions about their education post-16. All of our courses are Level 3 (advanced level) with the exception of Maths and English, which we offer as a GCSE re-sit, for students who do not attain a grade 4 in the summer. If advanced level study is not appropriate or of interest to your son or daughter, then please telephone the school and make an appointment to discuss alternative options with a member of the careers team.
The format of the evening sets out to give parents and students an opportunity to gather information on specific courses. As well as the general presentation, which includes information on the applications process, visitors will be able to attend three subject-specific presentations, with the opportunity to then visit additional subjects on a less formal basis. To aid organisation, please complete this form indicating three courses you are particularly interested in and would like to find out more about. You may decide on the night which other subject areas you would like to visit. Please return the completed form by Monday 4th November at the latest.
For students interested in the Excellence in Sport and Education Programme (designed for students competing at club/county level or above in their chosen sport) there are also two presentations to share information about this opportunity which you may wish to attend.
For students from other schools there is an opportunity to book a daytime tour of the school on 15th or 16th January to see the school in operation and speak to the Sixth Form Team – further details will be shared at Open Evening and available on our website. I look forward to welcoming you on the 7th November.
