UCAS Support
All students are encouraged to explore different options post-18 and our HE and Careers programme is designed to facilitate this. Our main App to support students through the research process is Unifrog, where students can explore university options alongside apprenticeships and other options for post-18. Students are guided to start exploring options early in Year 12 and information is given throughout the year including two Higher Education information evenings for parents and carers (link here).
In the final half term of Year 12, UCAS support is our main focus and students have visits to the UCAS Discovery Exhibition and other local events as well as the opportunity to take some days out of school to attend Open Days independently. University speakers visit school and support students with writing personal statements and making applications.
Students who have particular career goals in mind or who are aspiring to attend Oxford and Cambridge are also supported through our Pathways programme.
The first half term of Year 13 is also devoted to supporting students making applications to university or degree apprenticeships, with support for students looking at alternatives being ongoing throughout the year. We have another Higher Education evening for parents with appointment times to discuss individual choices and all students have access to our independent Careers Advisor, who can offer individual interviews and support. See more about Careers support at Prince Henry's here.
UCAS references are written by the Sixth Form team based on information provided by subject teachers, form tutors and the students themselves and will always present students in the most positive light possible. Predicted grades are based on a combination of progress during Year 12, trial examinations taken at the end of Year 12 and progress in assessments at the start of Year 13 and will be optimistic but realistic.
