    Eco Schools

    Student volunteering on Timanyane Day, digging with wheelbarrowAs part of our Global Citizenship work, students explore issues of sustainable development and environmental awareness, both through the curriculum and through special projects. For example, each year as part of our annual 'Timanyane Day' (Global Citizenship Day), Year 10 students work with organisations such as Otley 2030, Wildlife Friendly Otley and Chevin Park Rangers.

    Members of our award-winning student ‘Eco-mmittee’ have secured the highest level of the Eco Schools Award, the Green Flag Award, with Distinction. Areas of focus include improving facilities for recycling, encouraging more students to cycle to school and identifying measures to reduce energy consumption.
