Once you have booked, you will be contacted via email before 5pm on Thursday 4th November with your individual timetable of sessions, and a specific assigned entrance to reduce congestion. There will also be an opportunity to speak to the Sixth Form Team about general queries during the course of the evening. The evening will take the form of subject presentations from each A-level subject area.
The format of the evening has been altered this year in light of Covid-19 restrictions and a range of measures have been put in place to avoid congestion and minimise risk to students, staff and visitors. We ask that all visitors adhere to the following measures:
- Only one parent/carer per student and no younger siblings where possible
- Use hand sanitiser on arrival
- Wear a face covering while in school (except school aged students)
- Do not come into school if, on the day, you are displaying symptoms of Coronavirus, or have tested positive for Coronavirus, or have been instructed to self-isolate.
The open evening is designed to inform students and parents and carers about the options available in the Sixth Form at Prince Henry’s and supports the important process students must go through when making decisions about their education post-16. All of our courses are Level 3 (advanced level) with the exception of Maths and English which we offer as a GCSE re-sit for students who do not attain a grade 4 in the summer. If advanced level study is not appropriate or of interest to your son or daughter, then please telephone the school and make an appointment to discuss alternative options with a member of the careers team.
There will be a chance for current Year 11 students from Prince Henry’s to attend taster lessons in different A-level subjects on the PSHE day on 17th November. There will also be a separate Taster Morning event (Saturday 15th January 2022). This day will allow students and parents from both Prince Henry’s and other schools to experience lessons in up to five different subjects, to help students make a more informed choice about their options. A further letter giving the exact timings and subject options will be sent out prior to this event.
