Global Citizenship
Prince Henry’s has developed a national reputation as a school where learning takes place through a global lens. As well as learning about their rights and responsibilities as global citizens, our students enjoy unique opportunities to experience other cultures and visit other countries.
Students at Prince Henry’s have a strong sense of global justice and develop as responsible citizens who are prepared to act to make the world a fairer place. We were delighted to become the very first high school in Leeds to achieve the British Council’s prestigious International Schools Award - and the first in the entire country to receive the top level of the Global Schools Award.
Modern Foreign Languages enjoy a special place within the curriculum, building on our heritage as a Specialist Language College. Some 25 years ago, Prince Henry’s was one of the first schools in the country to introduce a course in Mandarin Chinese language and culture for all students, in addition to studying German and either French or Spanish. Our students are, therefore, exceptionally well prepared for the world of work in a global economy and for life in the global community.
Parents, carers and members of the local community can also benefit from our extensive language-learning provision through our Community Education Programme.
